The Black Sorrows are back on the road – this time to celebrate the October release of their new album The Way We Do Business!
Joe Camilleri is an undisputed icon of Australian music, who is marking the 40th anniversary of The Black Sorrows with his career 55th release. Very few can make such claims. Joe’s seemingly tireless drive to record quality music, which has rewarded him legendary status and well-deserved longevity in the music industry. Add to this a massive tour bringing Sorrows’ hits and tomorrow’s classics to cities and towns nationwide.
Since 1984, The Black Sorrows have toured Australia more times than anyone can remember, played sold out shows across Europe, won ARIA & APRA Awards, had multiple gold & platinum releases and sold more than a million albums worldwide. Joe’s a Hall of Famer and a rock n roll lifer. Camilleri has shown fans and critics alike that he is a prolific songwriter and performer with an undeniable energy and love of it all.

Help Me Help My Teen
This 2-hour event, based on Maggie’s latest book, is a reassuring, practical guide for parents, carers and educators to help teenagers navigate adolescence and grow into confident, capable adults.
Adolescence has always been a time of huge transformation, but today’s teens deal with challenges that parents may never have imagined.
An increasingly digital world filled with social media, gaming and harmful content, along with changing cultural norms, has intensified the pressure to excel and ‘fit in’ – leading to heightened levels of stress, anxiety and depression.
Maggie will provide clear and compassionate ‘what to do’ advice for some of the most difficult, sensitive topics – such as technology use, sex, drugs and alcohol, dropped school grades, school refusal, mental health and identity – and shows us how we can provide a safe and supportive environment for all our teens.

We are excited to announce the DSSS Visitor Economy Symposium is returning in 2025!
Being held on Wednesday 14th May at The Pavilion Kiama, the theme for the day will be ‘People, Productivity & Profit’.
At the heart of every successful visitor economy business are the people who drive it forward. This year’s Symposium will provide insights and strategies to help you build a strong, motivated team, enhance productivity, and maximise profitability. Through engaging discussions and expert-led sessions, we’ll explore practical ways to optimise operations, improve efficiency, and create a thriving, sustainable business.
In addition to gaining actionable strategies, you’ll have the opportunity to connect with like-minded industry colleagues and business owners—sharing experiences, sparking ideas, and strengthening your network.
But don’t just take our word for it, here are a few testimonials from operators who joined us at last year’s event:
“The operator pitch was a great addition, reminded me to refine how I talk about my own role.”
“The event was organised and in detail – it kept to the plan. The workbook was great.”
“Jan Hutton’s presentation on ADTW was very helpful, complimented by Jenny Gerada’s practical demonstration of how DNSW use the ADTW listings in their marketing of regions and experiences. The deep dive session (1) with the operator panel also provided helpful and practical insights. Most inspirational was the accessibility & inclusivity.”
“High calibre of speakers who were equally motivating. Networking with the right people. Meeting board members, the extended team is always how it should be done. This was one of the best events I have attended, which was beneficial for my business. Well done team DSSS.”
The entire program of events is coming soon, so watch this space!
We can’t wait to see you all on Wednesday 14 May at The Pavilion Kiama.

Akmal returns with a smash-hit tour after a spiritual journey to India to find himself. Unfortunately, when he got there, he couldn’t find himself anywhere, after all India is a big place…
On his return to Australia, he was pleased to discover he had been here the entire time.
This has absolutely nothing to do with his upcoming show, and he’s sorry he mentioned it.
Stand-up, movies, sketch, TV appearances, radio DJ, talk show host and a published author, Akmal is one of Australia’s most respected, successful and accomplished comics. Lightning quick and a master of unscripted comedy gold, Akmal has an incredible ability to deal with hot topics in an hilarious and slightly offensive way.
As Seen on Thank God You’re Here, Have You Been Paying Attention?, Just For Laughs and the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Gala.
‘Akmal’s strength is his stream-of-consciousness ramblings and his interaction with the audience.’ The Age
‘Akmal is an explosion of laughter and entertainment.’ Telegraph Mirror

2025 is an election year, and for too long the major political parties have ignored the regions of this vast brown land.
That is why the FRPP (Frenzal Rhomb Political Party) has today announced, on its 25th-ish anniversary, a pledge to bring the songs of A Man’s Not A Camel into regional centres across Australia.
“It is a failure of the major political parties and stain on the very history of this great nation, that simply because you live outside of the major city centres, for the last two and a half decades you have been deprived of sweet guitar riffs, 90s slap bass, sick drum beats, and harmonised rhymes about beer. The FRPP’s A Man’s Not A Camelpaign pledges to end that drought, and bring the songs of Frenzal Rhomb’s majestic, iconic, exalted album A Man’s Not A Camel BACK to regional Australia.
We will make sure no town* will ever again go without seeing songs like “Never Had So Much Fun”, “We’re Going Out Tonight” and “You Are Not My Friend” as they were truly intended. Live, loud, and played by people 25-ish years older than when they were recorded.
No, Frenzal Rhomb cannot balance the budget. Nor can we solve Australia’s housing crisis. We can’t even produce green carbon to get us to net zero (but then again no one can). But we CAN bring A Man’s Not A Camel to the beer-soaked stages of regional Australia. And you CAN trust us, we’re the ones who told you that interesting historical fact about dinosaurs in song. Also it can’t be pork-barreling; none of us eat meat.

A Fundraising Dinner hosted by the William Campbell Foundation. We will be celebrating the successes of William Campbell College in achieving outstanding educational outcomes for students. This special event will be held at the Kiama Pavilion on Friday, 10th October 2025.
William Campbell College is a purpose-built special assistance school in Nowra Hill, that offers unique educational programs to support students in K-8, who are impacted by trauma and are struggling to cope in mainstream schooling. We recognise that there are many children who regularly require additional support in their academic learning, emotional development and evolving of social skills that is not readily available in mainstream schools. Our aim is to provide academic, emotional, physical, social, cultural, and spiritual supports to meet the needs of these children in an inclusive learning environment.
Our Annual Fundraising Dinner will celebrate the achievements of our wonderful students and dedicated staff. It is also an opportunity to raise much-needed funds that will directly support the further development of the school’s premises with Stages 2 and 3. With this development we will be able to accommodate the families on our waitlist.
Tickets will be available for purchase starting Sunday, 1st June 2025 on our website: https://www.williamcampbellcollege.nsw.edu.au/events.
